Child safety standards

Swift's commitment to protecting minors who use our student cab service, and how to report a concern.

Our commitment

Swift's student cab service exists to get learners and students to and from school safely. Because that service involves minors, we hold it to a higher standard than our general shuttle service, and we have zero tolerance for any form of child sexual abuse, exploitation, or endangerment on our platform.

How we protect minors

  • Adult-managed bookings: student cab trips are requested and paid for by a parent, guardian, or school — not booked directly by a minor through an open marketplace.
  • Vetted drivers: the same driver vetting process described in our safety standards applies to every driver who may carry a student cab passenger.
  • Trip tracking: student cab trips are tracked from pickup to drop-off, and can be shared with a parent or guardian in real time.
  • Minimal data collection: we collect only what's needed to complete the trip safely — see our privacy policy for details on children's information.
  • No open messaging with minors: our platform does not provide an open chat feature between drivers and minor passengers outside of trip-coordination details.

For parents & guardians

As the person booking a student cab trip, you can:

  • See the assigned driver and vehicle details before the trip begins.
  • Track the trip live from pickup to drop-off.
  • Contact our team with any question about a specific driver or trip before booking again.
  • Report any conduct that concerns you immediately, using the details below.

Zero-tolerance policy

No exceptions

Any driver-partner, rider, or other user found to have engaged in child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, or any form of child sexual exploitation or abuse will be permanently removed from Swift and reported to the South African Police Service and, where applicable, other relevant authorities. This applies regardless of whether the conduct occurred on a Swift trip or was reported to us through another channel.

Report a child safety concern

If you believe a child is in immediate danger, contact South African Police Services on 10111 immediately. You can also reach Childline South Africa on the free, 24-hour helpline 116 for support and advice.

To report a concern about a driver, rider, or anything you've seen on Swift, contact us directly — every report is treated as urgent and reviewed by our team.
