Terms of service

The terms that apply when you request a ride, register as a driver-partner, or otherwise use Swift.

These terms govern your use of the Swift website, apps, and shuttle services, operated by Lavalite Tech Solutions (PTY) LTD ("Swift", "we", "us"). By requesting a ride, creating an account, or applying as a driver-partner, you agree to these terms.

The service

Swift connects riders who need transport around Mbombela and the surrounding Lowveld with independent driver-partners, and offers a scheduled student cab service. Swift facilitates the request and payment process; the trip itself is performed by the driver-partner assigned to your request.

Accounts & eligibility

  • You must provide accurate information when creating an account, and keep your login details secure.
  • You must be old enough to lawfully enter into an agreement in South Africa to create a rider or driver account yourself.
  • Our student cab service may be booked by a parent, guardian, or school on behalf of a minor — see our child safety standards.
  • Accounts are personal to you and may not be transferred or sold.

Requests & fares

  • An estimated fare is shown before you confirm a shuttle request; the final fare may vary based on actual distance, time, or waiting.
  • Payment is processed through our payment partners (PayFast or Ozow), or by another method we make available.
  • Discounts and coupons are applied at our discretion and may be withdrawn or changed at any time.

Cancellations

You may cancel a pending shuttle request before a driver has been assigned at no charge. Cancelling after a driver has been assigned and is already en route may attract a cancellation fee, shown to you at the time of cancellation.

Rider & driver conduct

Everyone using Swift is expected to treat other riders, drivers, and our team with respect. The following are not permitted, and may result in suspension or removal from the platform:

  • Harassment, threats, or abusive behaviour towards a driver, rider, or member of our team.
  • Any conduct that endangers the safety of a minor using our student cab service.
  • Fraudulent payment, fare manipulation, or fake requests.
  • Carrying items or engaging in conduct that violates South African law during a trip.

Report any safety concern through our safety standards page.

Driver-partners

Driver-partners operate as independent contractors, not employees of Swift. Approval to drive on Swift requires a valid driving licence, roadworthy vehicle, and successful completion of our vetting process, and can be withdrawn if our driver standards are no longer met.

Liability

Swift facilitates the connection between riders and independent driver-partners; we take reasonable steps to vet drivers and monitor trips, but we don't guarantee that every trip will be free of delay, error, or incident. To the extent permitted by South African law, our liability for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to the value of the fare paid for the trip in question, except where liability cannot lawfully be limited (for example, in cases of gross negligence).

Changes & governing law

We may update these terms from time to time; the "last updated" date above will reflect the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts. If you have questions about these terms, contact us at support@swift.co.za or through our contact form.
